City plans to switch off on local lake water use

Officials with the City of Guthrie say they have been receiving questions about the levels of the city's lakes.

Currently, the city is using water from Guthrie Lake, while Cottonwood Creek continues to fill Liberty Lake.

Authorities say once Liberty Lake reaches a specific point, they will switch over and begin using resources from that lake.

During that time, Guthrie Lake will have the chance to fill back up.

When the summertime heat sets in, crews will begin to pull water from Cottonwood Creek.

The drought has taken its toll on all the state's waterways.

Guthrie Lake is currently 4 feet before normal and Liberty Lake is 3 feet below normal.
