New initiative to boar through OK's hog of an issue

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The State Department of Agriculture is answering cries for help and providing a brand new service to Oklahomans that will hopefully help with a major problem in our state, feral swine.

They are a menace in all 77 Oklahoma counties.

Agricultural Department spokesperson, Blayne Arthur, said, "Feral hogs know no boundaries. They will eat almost anything. They will tear anything up. They are very aggressive. People should be very cautious if they run to them."

The Agriculture Department tells us wild hogs can double their population in just four months.

They are beginning to encroach on Oklahoma's non-rural areas.

So, the State Department of Agriculture is busy compiling a directory for those with wild swine interests.

More than 500 Oklahomans have applied.

Invaders attack metro trees

LOGAN COUNTY, OK -- They look like tiny pine cones but on closer inspection, they are actually bag worms. Pest control experts say the insects are taking over trees across the metro. According to Shane Ratke from A+ Pest Control, "They take nutrients out of the tree. That's how they survive. It's a really bad year for bag worms." If not treated, Ratke says your evergreen trees will eventually die.
